So i currently have a Unication G5 pager, its awesome except for our local VFD just went to 800, but they still tone out and Dispatch the call on there old VHF freq, and i cant scan both on a G5 at the same time, thinking of getting a SDS100, im just wondering how far the SDS will pick up, on my G5, it’ll switch sites, and i can pick up my county 40 plus miles away, when im on the road. If i have all the system sites programmed into the SDS will i be able to pick up my local when im that far out?

I have a G5 and there's no doubt it's more sensitive than my SDS100/200 scanners.

I see you have an HP2, try the test using that scanner, if it passes then the SDS100 likely will too.

Thanks for the info,. Unfortunately I don't have the home patrol anymore, I wish the G5 would scan both at the same time, I don't understand why they can't

I can only pick up 700/800 systems from 40 plus miles out on my SDS100 if connected to my roof mounted Larsen tribander at home, that thing's a miracle worker. With a traditional rubber antenna I'd be lucky to get 15 to 20 miles out if pointed towards the site. VHF & UHF maybe a bit further depending on TX power
