Sds100 questions! I have a multitude of questions for everyone here. I am looking at it for myself but also a few people who want them. For reference I have a BCD436HP that I do enjoy but it still has quirks. I will start by saying I want actual evidence not hyperbole.

Proformance: my area has a smattering of everything. LTR trunking, P25 phase 2 800 mhz trunking, EDACS, conventional vhf, uhf, uhf digital, lowband etc. From what I read it's really designed for 800mhz simulcast. How does it perform with a wide variety of systems and frequencies.

Programming: I have invested alot of time in making good lists and systems for location bases scanning. Is it compatible or am I sol starting from scratch? It seems to be the same but I can't tell for sure. Also is it easy to program? I use proscan for reference.

Ease of use: I am a radio person and know how to make most things run however some people who are asking me about them are not. How beginner friendly is it? Can you just program it for someone and have them turn it on and go? For example I always need to take a minute to make sure it locks on my local P25 systems data channel

Durability: This scanner is 650 not including accessories however I know it is waterproof. I have often not carried some of my scanners because I am hard on electronics and tend to favor commerical radios. Will the sds100 stand up to not only my use but someone who tends to be all thumbs and not exactly nice on their equipment.

Carryabilty: How easy is this radio to carry every day? I was originally looking at the 325p2 due to it's size but have seen recent problems with 800mhz trunking.

GPS: is the GPS the same? I already have a cable and don't want to reprogram

Battery life: Uniden has upgraded the batteries on these but will they last a full day out and about? The 436 and 325 are easy because you can just throw AA batteries in them. Also will it charge while on? That's annoying on the old scanners. I have also heard from someone who has one they get to hot to touch. Any validty to this?

Thanks In advance I'm sure I'll be asking more

Pretty much everything you have asked has been answered in one of the many threads about the sds 100.

I will say one thing if you don't have simulcast issues In my opinion no need to upgrade unless you want the latest and greatest.

SDSx00 and BCDx36HP use the same version of Sentinel, so all your programming will be fine.

It's very easy in Sentinel to just transfer all of your programming and everything you are used to over into the SDS. Just copy the profile and rename it, use the 'target scanner' drop down menu and write your programming to the SDS100. Easy peasy. If you are hard on your electronics it might be a good idea to check out the cases for the SDS100 at Scanner Master. I keep mine in the heavy duty hard leather case only because I do not want to invite any scratches on the display screen. As for combat readiness, I have dropped mine several times (in the case) with no issues afterward. As previously suggested, sit down one afternoon and research the forums, everything you want to know is here. Have fun with it!

GPS takes a slightly different cable if you have the Uniden puck you just need the cable made for the sds100
