Im sending in my SDS100 for the second time in a year. I seem to be having a lot of problems with the multi function knob. Does Uniden still issue replacement units? Is it worth a call to Uniden to find out?

You wouldn't be the only one with this problem. I was able to disassemble my SDS100 to the point that I could drip some tuner cleaner into the multifunction knob assembly. This stopped the "skipping" whenever I rotated the knob. A number of months later, this issue has now returned.

It can also be the J401 connector that has a cold solder joint. When you open up the scanner you change the pressure on the contact and it might work again but when the scanner are used it gets warm and the material expands and when it cools down it contracts and after a while that could make the J401 connector go bad again and needs to be properly soldered.

My BCD536 selector got bad and I manage to drip some cleaner into it and have worked fine during 6 years now. I don't know if the cleaning fluid included some secret sauce ingrediens but here's its recipe:

Butane
Isobutane
Propane
Hydrogen treated Naphtha
Purified Mineral oil
Sorbitan Oleate

DHL shows my SDS100 was delivered on Monday. We will see how long it takes to get back and find out what was wrong.

One of my 200's did it too, about a month after I got it. It would skip way past the selection I wanted, and I'd have to turn it the opposite direction, but now it seems to have corrected itself.

I've found on my sds200, turning the control clockwise numerous times then counter clockwise numerous times every once in awhile, keeps it going. I don't use it much and I think that burnishes the contacts and keeps them from corroding from lack of use. I do the same thing to all of my stereo components.
