Look on your display. If you see what looks like a compass with a C (bottom right), then it means you have it turned on.

Menu -> Close Call ->Set CC Mode -> {Set it to OFF} If it is on CC Priority, it will cause that issue.

P25P2 just indicates that it is receiving a Phase II trunking system.

Hello all
New to the SDS200 and it's a learning curve after being out scanning for many years.
I'm getting there.

I've read and searched but can't get an answer.

I am getting very confused about Priority
I understand how to turn it on and off.
What I don't understand is if that on or off is global.

Here's a scenario
I hold on a channel
Set Close Call to Priority.
Is the Priority selection just for the channel I'm holding on, or something else?
Maybe I turn that on, then select what channels I want Priority on?
I can see how to turn on Priority for a particular channel in Sentinel, but how is it done in the radio?

Thanks for any help

Anything done on Sentinel is transferred to your radio by clicking on the 'Scanner tab' in Sentinel, then choosing 'write to scanner.'

Got it.
I've spent lots of time with the manual.

When you said;
You need to read and hopefully understand the terms and features of the radio.
That is the key.
I get it now.

Thank you

Good morning

Is it common while listening to a conversation while either Close Call or Priority are on, for the transmission to be interrupted every second or so?
If so, it seems like the only workaround is to put the channel on hold, and immediately turn of Close Call or Priority off.

Does that sound right?

Thanks, and take care
Bob

you don't have to put it on hold, but yes, having any of the priorities active will cause a noticeable interruption in received traffic.

Close Call is a tool when you are somewhere new looking for signals. What you are saying is how the scanners are designed.
#1 If the scanner is receiving a signal and PRIORTY is on it looks for the PRIORITY SIGNAL every couple of seconds.
#2 If CLOSE CALL is turned on the scanner will do the same as PRIORTY and look for any signal stronger than a certain setting.

Thanks guys
I've been out of it for awhile, and was used to my old Realistic Pro-2006 where you listed a channel as Priority, and everything else was business as usual.

Take care

@bob_nj Consider trying Close Call Do Not Disturb (CC DND). This option is a neat feature that checks for strong radio signals only when the scanner is NOT actively receiving audio from a programmed channel. Unlike Close Call Priority, this option prevents the interruption of what you are listening to. You can do this from home, but it is more effective if you use CC DND while mobile. With a decent antenna (not the Uniden OEM antenna), you will be surprised at the success rate of finding new active frequencies.

One note about the DND mode (that I use in my mobile.) While the DND means it won't disturb active scanning, if you get a close call hit, and the scanner is on that frequency while it is active, it won't switch back to the scan if something comes up there. It will remain on what you are receiving until the CC signal drops, or you rotate the knob to force scanning.
