Hey all been a long scanner freak. I have a BDC436HP for a few years now and just bought an SDS200.

I know OKC is planning to switch to P25 Phase 2 but does anyone know when this will happen?

I do not want to buy the provoice add-on if they will be dropping it soon and going to P25.

I would appreciate any help on this is you have it.

They've been testing the new system for a while. Currently (as of late night) Oklahoma County Sheriff link is carried on it. Sometime early next year they are expected to switch over.

It's gonna take a while for the complete cut-over because they have to reprogram the current radios to even work with it. All city services will be on it full time digital. Including Embark. I observed that OCSO seems to be permanent because I have heard TG 369 without supergroup/simulselect patch as per the output of DSD+ FL 2.212 not showing supergroup/simulselect.

Also they have been building the final tower and transmitter/data hub for the system at OCFD Station 14200 Hogback Rd. Cut-over can't even happen until that is finished. It is late anyway due to residents in the neighborhood objected to it and it took a few months of hearings until Nikki Nice of Ward 6 got the special permit approved unanimously last September.

a 250 foot tower and data hub takes some time.

Wouldn't hurt to occasionally drive by it snap a few pics every once in a while to share it's progress. I can't because no vehicle and bus system doesn't go that far out in that direction.

Nobody knows an exact date or time frame. All I know is they are working on it and the last site is being built which per the FCC paperwork filed by the city will be completed by end of Feb or they must forfeit their fcc licensing. Its on the FCC website.
For whats it worth, the testing I have heard on the actual system, not the annoying temp patches, sounds pretty good, much better than Normans messed up phase two system. They are already talking about reprogramming Normans radios again hahahaha
Also, keep in mind there is no answer to the public on what will or will not be encrypted when they do change over. A lot will be encrypted, some will not...how much, wait and see ;)

Might as well. What if you move or travel and they use EDACS as well? I know it can get expensive but its still worth it.
