My SDS200, just a few months old, runs 24/7 and is connected to a PC running ProScan.

Three times in the past week or so, I have found that it has "gone silent" and stopped receiving signals. Watching the display, it looks "normal" as if its scanning and receiving fine, it just seems to stop receiving signals. I notice, when this issue appears, it will have been scanning just fine for a day or so, then I will notice it "scanning" for long periods (an hour or more) without detecting a single transmission. (Normally at my location it would be unusual to go more than one minute without stopping on a signal.)

The first time it happened I turned power off, waited 30 seconds or so, then turned power on and it immediately started receiving normally. It ran fine for a couple days, then the same thing happened again. I started paying closer attention after recycling power after the second occurrence and it ran fine for 30-36 hours before going silent for the third time (it went silent overnight, so I'm not sure the exact time).

Full disclosure: a red herring in all of this is that I recently updated the firmware. I am honestly not sure if the first occurrence of going silent was before or after the firmware update... the first occurrence and the firmware update were within a couple of days of each other, but I can't remember the sequence of events. Of course I have no idea if anything about the firmware update could have unintended consequences and be causing this.

Any thoughts appreciated; I fear I need to get prepared for a trip to the Uniden hospital.

Not the first time this issue has been reported. Try the suggestions mentioned in the threads below. I'd start by reformatting the SD card
