So I was playing with my new sds 100 , going through a custom uhf search ,..all seems fine ,...I do another search the next day ,..& it is noticeably slower ,..trying to figure out why ,..if i hit a key or changed the step or something ,..I shut it off & reboot ,..& then the search is fast again ,.. so I start shutting it down & on again & it seems it only does it every once in a while , I just dont understand why ? it all seems to work well , just every once in a while the search seems slow ,..the numbers are actually moving slower , Im wondering if there is something to that ,.I have initiated the search , from both the top push button & the enter key ,...I cant think of what else I could be doing that sometimes changes the search rate ? any ideas ?

What Firmware are you running? The new FW has filters and I use Wide Normal.

A filter or global filter setting of Auto will slow down searches considerably. I don't have the thread links but there have been discussions about this in one or more of the Uniden forums. The scanner must check each filter setting on each channel to determine the best setting. This takes time for the radio to accomplish so the result is a slower search rate or scan rate for a group of channels with an Auto filter selected.

That's a confirmation on the auto filters per upman. If Auto filter is used at all, it will significantly slow down.

Remove the antenna and see if it still searches slow, then it is a positive confirmation of a firmware issue.

My 200 scanned slow on custom search even with different settings. I took off the antenna and still had that issue til I turn off the unit than back on than scan normal than 5 mints to a few hours later it does it again. That is with latest Firmware. I turn in the unit to uniden for another issue and got another unit exchanged. I haven't seen that problem with being slow as of yet.

In all other areas the radio seems to work quite well for me , its just something I noticed , I often toggle the light off , Im wondering if im hitting a shortcut keys combo by mistake that does something like changes filters or something
