Uniden Bearcat programing with Freescan. I am picking up more than I want. I create a site for just Seattle PD which has 4 main dispatch channels, but then I end up hearing all kinds of other conversations. I am guessing that I am picking up everything on the "frequencies" that is Seattle PD. How do I narrow down my programing to only the HEX ID of the Talk groups I want?

1st - you want to have at least have the tac channels also.
2nd - PSERN is trunking (you mention talk groups in your last sentence, so I assume you know this)

I don't do Freescan, so I have no advice there, but can't you edit in Freescan and just have the TGs you want?

Create a P25 Trunk System with only Site 125. You only need 854.2875 Mhz but it doesn't hurt to have the alternate control channels. (The frequencies in RED.) You can also add Site 126, 127 but you may not need them. From my monitoring there's nothing specific to those sites. Site 125 should get you all of SPD. The other sites may work better for you depending on your location.

Nessie gave a partial list of SPD TGIDs. Create a "group" and enter the above list into the scanner. There are a few others and you can ignore the ENC groups as you won't be able to hear anything anyway. The scanner won't stop on those either.

Also, Freescan defaults to ID SEARCH mode, IIRC. So you'll want to change that to ID SCAN if you ONLY want to hear the groups you've programmed.

Freescan uses the decimal TGID numbers -- not Hex.

Oh and you'll want to set the QUICK KEY to say "1" for the PSERN system -- and when the scanner starts scanning -- click 2, 3, 4, thru 0 to disable the other banks. Then you'll only be scanning the trunk system you've programmed.

the op didn't use the model just said brand, anyways could it be a simulcast issue where he is at? With my antenna in the window and so forth Seattle PD comes out just fine.

The OP: "I am picking up more than I want."
So, - this was more of a programming inquiry.
Asking how to only monitor selected SPD TGs.

It was never clear, (or I missed it), if "more than I want" was all of PSERN, or all of SPD, (or ??).

Thanks to all who replied. I got it working. I think the biggest help to me was was switching to "ID Scan" on Freescan. Someone Said that Freescan defaults to (something) other than ID Scan. Once I switched over to that I was good to go. The model is a BCD325P2.
Now, it seems there's sun spots, solar flares, interference of some sort going on. Been really quiet that past few days.
Anyways, thanks again for everyone's input.

I have a BC325P2 and when I was working at Metro Transit I used it all the time, now I am retired a few years and took interest in my scanner again. I still receive Seattle transit but can no longer receive Seattle Police, or Fire. Can someone tell me if I need to reprogram my 325P2 or what The last time I programed this scanner I just plugged it into the soft ware provided by radiofrference and it was done. I have no idea how I did that so is there any hope for me.
Any help would be great

ALL Puget Sound radio traffic is now on PSERN, a P25II system.
The old system has been decommissioned.
If you are trying to listen to the old system, it is no longer operational.

You need to program this:

Puget Sound Emergency Radio Network (PSERN) Trunking System, Seattle, Washington

I want to thank you so much for showing how to program (PSERN) it took me a few tries but it now works, I have been trying for a long time, thanks again!!
Not sure if I showed you how to program it... I pointed you in the right direction, :) - but glad I could help.
I was one of the people that documented the changeover from KCERS with banks of RTL-SDRs and then helped determine the new PSERN talkgroups and helped get them submitted to the database. So, I am very familiar with PSERN...

I set up two groups one for SPD and one for SFD. now when I scan it only scans the two groups. do you know how I can go from the two groups to an open scan? Also I have not been able to set a priority channel in P25 am I doing something wrong? any information would be helpful. Sorry for being so needy for information but if you don't mind it would be very helpful.
Thanks

Note: I am not that familiar with the 325P2, so here is a resource for you....
Easier to Read BCD325P2 Digital Scanner Manual

Do you have quick keys set up?
Is location control on - and the location info correct for all of your departments?
(If you set up your favorites using Sentinel, the location info populates automatically).

Priority in trunking is different than conventional.

Mr. nessnet I just want to thank you again for all your help. If it weren't for you I would have this expensive scanner and still not being able to use it. Thanks for answering E mail.

This what we are here for.

The only things we ask for here is to give us as much information as possible when asking something, to help us help you.

And, to familiarize yourself with the RR forum's search function and use it.
Many (most) questions have been answered in the past and a quick search will most likely get you what you need. Of course, if you can't find an answer, ask away.
