Can someone explain what the differant sites are used for as used in scanning? Example, I want to listen to Seattle Fire so I plug in the Seattle Simulcast Freqs. or control channels if the scanner you use has that option. What is Apple Cove, North Seattle, used for.

I live North of Seattle, so I plugged in the Seattle Simulcast and North Seattle. Do I have this figured right?

i would try to use different trunked systems to find the best one for your area. sometimes the obvious choice is not always the best choice.

These are the frequencies I have programmed in for this system

868.175,868.675,868.650,868.225,851,4125.

It sure beats the heck out of having to program in all the frequncies for the system like I was told I would have to do before I moved up here.

What are you talking about? you put in the control channel for the system that you want to use, and then enter the talk group IDS that you want to listen to and it is as simple as that, it sounds like he wants to listen to Seattle area stuff. and he is on the right track here, and I dont know if he has or has not put in the talk group IDS, so the answer to his qustion would be you have you put in the talk group IDS for what you want to listen to, not look at northwestradio or try a different system, the simple fact is everything that he is asking about can be found right here on this web site and here is the link, or am i missing something here on what he is asking. here is the link, if you need more help let me know.

You should put in ALL the control channels. A Motorola system can have up to 4 control channels. Some systems change often, others hardly ever. But if they do change and you only have 1 you will hear nothing.

Well I guess he is right, the area that I live in we have a control channel for east, north and south for a total of three and he I believe the originator of this, is in in the Seattle area, and I am not all up to date on that system, so how about some folks that are sound off here, as I don't think DICKH is from the Seattle either.

autbee09 keep the cover over your head.unless you have something of relevance to add.

The info. I supplied applies to every Motorola trunked system. I said they CAN have UP TO 4 control channels. Usually, sites with only 1 control channel are Intellirepeater sites. If you listen to them you will hear only the units that are affiliated to that site.
Here in Portland there are 4 simulcast sites and 9 Intellirepeater sites. The IR sites are used for "fill-in" in marginal reception areas. The simulcast sites transmit everything, so you only need their 4 control channels. Each simulcast site has all 20 freqs.

ok, whatever. i just know that the EPSCA Simulcast works better in a lot of places in seattle than the Seattle Simulcast does.

Good piece of information. I'll tuck that into my memory bank for the next time I'm up there. Thanks.
