I have some perfectly functional XTL5000 consolettes we use as backups that need a codeplug modification after a key change, and it seems the previous admin may never have had one of these. My Motorola vendor advised the HKN6155 cables were nigh impossible to locate. I'm aware of the homemade workarounds and can find a $300 option for a cable with the internal connector, but these are rack mounted and tearing them out anytime a codeplug change might be required is less than ideal. I hoped someone might have a spare lying about I could purchase from them before I explore those routes further. Could I be that lucky?

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

My mistake. For some reason, my tablet did not reflect that it was unavailable. Check with Bluemax49ers and if he doesn't have it, I would call twowayradioparts.com. Sometimes he may have the connector and ends laying around and he will make the cable for you. He is easy to work with.
I can't recall offhand if the XTL5000 consolette has USB pins on the accessory connector on the back, but if it does, make up a quickie USB programming cable for each radio, hook it up and leave it there (with the USB end hanging out the front of the rack) for future use. Short of finding the elusive HKN6155, that's probably your best option so you don't have to haul them out of the rack more than once.
