First time I've encountered this problem....

I keep one of my HP-1 radios in my car for mobile listening. I use it in conjunction with the GPS puck.

Saturday evening I brought it in so I could update the DB in preparation for a trip I was making Sunday. I took the microSD card out of the radio, put it in an adapter and stuck that in my computer. Updated the DB thru Sentinel, wrote everything to the card, put card back in radio and put radio back in car. So far so good.

So Sunday morning I'm about 5 miles into my journey when I turn on the scanner, and when it comes on, it's like it's just been taken out of the box. It wants to go thru all the set-up screens before loading database. When I go into the menu (doing so while at stoplights) to select a couple of favorites lists, none of them are there. Everything's gone and I'm kinda pissed. At the next stoplight, I check the database version, and amazingly enough, it's the most current update?!? WTH??? Sentinel decides to just write the database to the SD card and erase everything else? Good thing I wanted to do more listening via GPS than favorites lists or I would have been totally out of luck.

I've updated my HP-1 radios hundreds of times and this is the first time something like this has happened. Thinking it might be an SD card problem, I tried two different cards a little while ago but got the same results both times.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? If so, I'd like to hear how the problem was rectified, IF it was rectified.

Thanks in advance for any/all comments.

:)

That's weird but its never happened to me.
However, I choose to update my cards in the radios... Adapters add another level of possible issues to contend with. I would have said you might have accidentally chosen to erase the FL's but that wouldn't explain the new user/radio routine.

Might want to use the SD formatter, start over & leave the card inside...

Well, I tried transferring all the info to the radio again, this time with the card still in the radio. Same result. Tried reformatting the card and sending info; same result.

Finally decided to delete Sentinel from my computer and re-download it. Rebuilt my favorites lists, tried the transfer and it worked perfectly. I am back in business.

Guess I just needed a "clean" copy of Sentinel in my computer.
