Sentinel Stopped Working

Anyone else have any problems with Sentinel ceasing to launch? I'm using Windows 7, and Sentinel was working fine. Upgraded to the newest version now it looks like it's starting up, but then displays the window "Sentinel has stopped working...Windows is searching for a solution to the problem." But nothing happens.

Any suggestions? I've uninstalled the program, restarted, reinstalled, did a Windows Update, etc. But nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

**SOLVED - Changed the default installation folder and it's working now...weird**

Installed in Different Directory

Super weird...installed the latest version in a different directory name and it's working fine. It didn't like the default folder.

My home 20 eating pizza.
I can't load it from my desktop shortcut since I updated it. But I can get it to load by going into the start menu and searching for it & opening it that way. It's not a huge deal and I have yet to get around to seeing if my shortcut is just borked since it's not a huge deal. But very strange.

Im getting a whole diff issue. When I try to update firmware or DB, I get a whole long error msg. It says:

Updating unit failed
Operation is canceled

The remote server returned an error: 227 Entering Passive Mode (69, 15, 51, 147, 5, 46).

Anyone have this happen to them or know what to do?

Yes, I've clicked Run as Administrator and yes, I've reinstalled the software and yes, I changed the destination folder.

That line is a normal part of the process of transferring the main DB from Uniden's server to Sentinel via FTP (it's Uniden's FTP server [69.15.51.147, i.e., ftp.homepatrol.com] acknowledging Sentinel's request to put the FTP port [for this session, it was 256*5 + 46 = 1326] in PASV mode. But it's not supposed to be the last response from Uniden's FTP server. Looks like the FTP session timed out.

Does it do this every time you try to update the main DB?

Thank you for responding. Today is the first time I’ve ever seen that. Never had any issues w Sentinel before. Internet connection is fine. Stumped... Sounds it could be something like a permissions issue btwn Sentinel and the FTP server. Actually, that made me think of something. I have Circle installed on my router and it could be blocking that port. Im gonna pause that and see if it works.

Do you have any anti-virus/network security software running? It can cause connectivity issues with FTP PASV mode, among other things.

Disabled Circle on the router and Windows Firewall on PC, now getting a new/diff error. It says:

Updating unit failed.
Operation is canceled.

The underlying connection was closed: The server committed a protocol violation.

I am also having issues for the first time with Sentinel. I keep getting a server error saying it can't find or connect to the server. Not sure what is going on but would really like to get my firmware and DB updated. I am suspecting my ISP or maybe there is something going on with the UNIDEN Server. Let me know if it starts working for you.

I tried the same thing for my Home Patrol too and I got the same result that the server was not available. So I used two different UNIDEN software utilities and I got the same result. Very high odds against both not working at the same time when they have been for years. Just went back to older version of Sentinel and no difference so it is not the upgraded software program.

Tried it this morning on a diff machine and so far so good. So I don’t know if it’s because of the different computer or that Uniden just happened to fix their error sometime overnight

Seems like Sentinel is again not working. Trying to get the latest firmware update but getting error msg
