Sentinel: Sentinel updates

hello, relative newbie here...with a sds200,does uniden update sentinel on a certain date/weekly/monthly or just random? and once they post the update do i have to make any changes in the scanner settings to bring in p25? such as enter tgid codes ? where do i find them? are the call signs listed in digitalfrequency.com any use in programming? my head is spinning thx in advance if u can point me in a direction

1. Proper punctuation and caps really help people to actually be able to read your questions. 2. Uniden pulls data from Radio Reference every Monday. Sometimes there are technical issues that will delay this, but normally, it's Monday
sometime.

3. Updates are to the database. If you have favorites programmed, the weekly update WILL NOT update your favorite lists. You need to do it manually.

4. Go to radioreference.com. It is where the data in your radio comes from and you can look ay your state/county/city's data for everything you are asking. If you tell us where you are, someone can post a link to this data if you need help finding it.

To add little to what nessnet has already posted, adding your location to your profile also helps immensely in getting more accurate responses on what to look for in your area. Your city. or county, and state help pointing inquiries to what is used by systems near you. For even more focused details on what is used near you, that sort of query should be posted in the state, or regional sub-forum, that includes your locality. More specific questions on how to use certain features of whatever scanner model you use do belong in the support forum that covers your specific scanner.

While the updates to Sentinel, which are available usually by noon on Mondays, update the main database, that does not update any Favorites list programming in your scanner. However, if you were to become a Premium Subscriber, and use software such as ProScan to import data from the database, ProScan has the ability to show you the differences between what you previously imported versus whatever changes have been entered via Uniden's weekly updates.

My county is Chatham. At that website. It says it is a 'County Trunked System'. Only RR shows the proper data. Sentinel doesn't show any of it.

Under Chatham, you need to expand Statewide since Chatham is on the VIPER system. I see all of the same talkgroups listed on both Radio Reference and Sentinel. Is there a new Chatham County trunked system? Your link says Chatham County is a county trunked system, but you can't believe everything you read.

You provided a wiki link. The wiki can be edited by anyone to say any thing. Just because someone typed in "county trunked system" doesn't mean Sentinel will classify it as such. Sentinel draws from RRDB data, not from the wiki & VIPER is classified as a statewide system.

But as previously mentioned, given VIPER is statewide you need to expand NC > Statewide to get to it. If Chatham had their own independent system then it'd be listed as a county system

If your city/county/state recently made the migration to a new P25 system or added talkgroups to an existing system & the applicable data isn't appearing in Sentinel but does appear in the RR database (RRDB) then you'll need to run a Sentinel update the following Monday and see if the new info appears. Or go the Proscan / RR premium sub route as mentioned in post #3 and get the info immediately. Welcome to the RR forums!

Maybe, maybe not. Digitalfrequencysearch is simply an FCC license aggregator. Doesn't spell out what frequencies & licenses are confirmed in use & what aren't, what voice mode(s) are confirmed in use, if encryption is in play among other things. Refer foremost to the RRDB for user-confirmed data while programming

If you're talking about the database that has already been answered. If you are talking about the Sentinel program itself that gets updated whenever Uniden makes changes to the program and that can be whenever.

I can confirm Chatham County is on VIPER and their talkgroups are listed under the statewide VIPER system in the database.
