I had to stop using windows computers as a feed host. I have moved on the the barix instreamer 100.
These are rock solid devices and expensive as Hell. One thing they lack is we can't get pass alpha tags. For good reason too. You couldn't expect to connect a serial cable between your bct15x and the serial on the instreamer. How would the instreamer poll the scanner. How would the scanner format the tag data.
For that matter, how is scannercast and scanner pro doing this?
The backend of broadcastify is icecast right? I setup my instreamers to talk icecast protocol . The barix documentation says they can pass meta data on to the shoutcast and ice cast feeds.
In theory, I could enable tags on a feed, connect to the barix serial port with a computer and try sending tags. If this can be done, couldn't I build a device with two serial ports, Pole the scanner tags on one and format them for shoutcast and output on the other ?
I think step one try and push tags manually on the serial port of the instreamer.
