Everybody who keeps suggesting "workarounds" are missing the much bigger point of these kinds of threads, which is:

Why did Uniden remove this feature to begin with?

Did they poll the scanning public?

Draw straws?

Flip a coin?

Personally I LOVE service search for hunting down frequencies and I'm sorry this is not included.

That's the $64,000 question, and I don't even own an x36 scanner....yet.

Leaning towards a 536HP. Is its not being there a deal breaker for me? No, but I would be a little disappointed that it didn't have the service search function in it.

The "service search" concept is unique to certain parts of the world where particular agencies are the only occupants of a particular chunk of spectrum. Having a "public safety" service search for example is of little use when public safety is spread across all bands between 140-144, 148-174, 406-430, and 700/800 MHz - with commercial users intermixed everywhere in between. The local police here are on 155 MHz; they are bookended by two different fire departments. A few steps up in the spectrum is a commercial user. My fire department is on 413 MHz. "Right next door", spectrum-wise, is a telemetry signal from an oil refinery.

The data you're looking for by using a service search is found, as someone else has said, in the "Nationwide Systems" part of the database, anyway: RadioReference.com - Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference Database
OK, so remove the public safety service search. That makes sense. But it still doesn't fit the bill for what is needed and if it has already been implemented in practically every other Uniden scanner, why not the newest and greatest?

Most of these guys in this thread arguing about the loss of this feature need to grow up and stop complaining. If you don't like the scanner then return it, we don't all need to hear you complain like 5 years olds how you won't buy it until they fix it

I'm not being arrogant, it just gets redundant to hear complaining when Uniden did a really nice job releasing these scanners and people sit there and complain. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but there is a difference between an opinion and complaining

I 100% agree with this. Declarations from people about how they plan to wait for the scanner or won't buy it do nothing but clog threads. NOBODY cares. It has nothing to do with people speaking their minds...it simply degrades the ability to get information on this forum.

The only way the manufacturer will know what updates to make is to hear it from their users. This is one reason we have these forums -- to gather information together and also to give the manufacturer a place to hear what the consumers are saying. If you have no interest in contributing to this thread, then please go somewhere else. If you don't want to hear someone else's opinion on something, or you want to call it complaining, then the forums may not be the place for you. There's nothing wrong with calling out our disappointment with the lack of certain features in a brand new powerhouse radio that have been implemented in so many radios over the years, and that we've all become accustomed to.

Everybody is entitled to his or her own opinions whether they are good or bad and everybody is allowed to voice those opinions on RadioReference.

If you don't agree with somebody, then reply in a respectful and meaningful way.

If you can't do that, then move on and find something else to do.

Let's try and stay on topic.

Thanks!

I'm trying to figure out what would be the easiest/quickest way to activate some of those Nationwide Services so we can sort of have the same thing as the Service Search. By using Number Tags? Or we could put them in their own separate FL and then switch to it and while on Hold on the Service tag, scroll to find the one we want and let it scan.

Just looking for ideas....
