I spent about three hours building a new personality for my in house 536HP. Since it's not in my truck any longer, I don't need the several other states programming I use when mobile.
I decided to break down MA into several separate Favorites Lists and also use different Start Up Keys in case I wanted listen to only one area.

I used the ARC536 feature that allows me to save systems in a FL individually. I like the feature.

I then built new FLs using those systems.

I looked everything over in ARC536 and loaded each FL separately. Then I restarted the scanner using the existing Profile.

Everything worked great. A few minor adjustments, but nothing major.

Then I used Sentinel to upload the whole personality and build a new profile with the settings I wanted.

I then reloaded everything onto the SD card and put the card in the scanner.

Which is when the problems started.

For some reason no matter what start up key I used, only the trunked systems would scan. Nothing conventional would work.

Odd.

I checked to make sure that nothing was set to Avoid.

All was well.

Then I locked out all of the trunked systems and got the dreaded "NOTHING TO SCAN" message.

Hmmm, that was strange.

So, I dug into the systems that wouldn't scan and found that somehow they Service Types on all of them had been changed to Other or Aircraft. Neither of which is enabled by default. I don't know if ARC536 did this or if it's inherent in building a new Profile. Either way, I hate that.

I went back to my new profile and enabled those types and everything started scanning.

Then I went back into each system in each FL and made sure that the Service Types were correct.

Now, the scanner is happily scanning both trunked and conventional systems.

Add to my firmware update list the ability to disable that feature of the x36HP scanners.

I really hate Service Type.

If you hate them, just enable all of them and forget they exist.

BTW Sentinel lets you have Systems to individual FLs, too. Sounds like you implied it won't.

I may be wrong, but I don't think you can enable a Service Type if no channels or Talk Group are programmed with it.

I haven't tried saving individual systems in Sentinel since I prefer ARC536 for programming. I find it much easier to use.

I think you're right about needing channels with that ST to enable it. If you want to try saving the systems in Sentinel, just go to the system in the main database, right-click on it and select APPEND TO FAVORITES LIST, and select a new FL, name it, and that's it.

Oh, I've done that before, I just forgot because it was just so much easier to develop systems and favorites lists using ARC536. That's probably because I've been using Butel software since it came out for the 780. I've used it for all of my DMA scanners so the interface is very familiar to me.

Yep. If you're familiar with software, odds are great you will prefer to continue using that over anything else. (unless it's MS Office which they keep insisting on changing enough to make it a PITA to re-learn)

Office 97 was my favorite version. It was simple and did what I needed it to do. Every time they improve it, they break it. They also move where the various commands are located.

I'm using 2007 (reluctantly) and hope not to have to learn 2010.

I really miss Word Perfect. :(
