My county has some dispatchers using encryption one some calls .When this occurs my radio just makes a crackling sound. Is there a way in setting to either increases time delay or dwell to just have it locked out as encrypt as when the officer responds all is clear.
Thanks

So on other words you want to increase the delay so the scanner doesn't move on when the encrypted transmission ends? Channel Delay

Press Menu then scroll to Manage Favorites and press E/yes.
Scroll to the Favorites List and press E/yes.
Scroll to Review/Edit System and press E/yes.
Scroll to the System and press E/yes.
Scroll to Edit Department and press E/yes.
Scroll to the Department and press E/yes.
Scroll to Edit Channel and press E/yes.
Set Delay Time This sets (in seconds) the amount of time the scanner stays on a channel after the transmission has ended before moving to the next channel. A negative delay will force a resume after that number of seconds. The default setting is 2 seconds.
-10 -5, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, or 30 sec.

Not sure which scanner does the OP has , however my SDS 200 bypasses the partially encrypted TG and passes the audio when the encryption gets turned off.

I think he wants it to do like a TRX scanner does, to mute while the encryption are present and unmute when it's in the clear and stay on the TG. Uniden have made their encryption function so that it immediately skips encryption and continues scan and no delay setting will prevent that. Perhaps Whistler holds a patent for how it's working so that Uniden can not use it without paying a license fee.

For SDS100 @ SDS200;
Encryption (the more common types) are recognized and then ignored by the scanner which is supposed to continue scanning automatically. But there are times I’ve heard the scrambled audio. Nothing distinguishable but I wondered why I was hearing it at all because the scanner wasn’t supposed to stop and listen. I learned sometimes the scanner doesn’t get a piece of the digital transmission it uses to determine if the signal is encrypted or not. There is nothing special you need to do to listen to the TG or channel that has part time encryption. The scanner should stop and listen to unencrypted signals and ignore encrypted signals. There will be those times where you may hear the noise of encryption but that should be expected. Sorry, there is nothing, no settings that deal with the issue, it’s all built into the scanner’s programming bios, if that’s the right term.

Also with the x36 and SDS, if an unencrypted transmission occurs, they will stop on the talkgroup, then if the other party to the conversation is encrypted and answers right away, you will catch just a fraction of a second of the encrypted transmission before the scanner "realizes" it, mutes, and continues scanning.

I'd be tempted to tinker with the squelch settings. You might be right at the edge and the scanner is trying to pick up something before it decides the transmission is encrypted and moves on.
