Does anyone have some area talk group ids? Norman, Tecumseh, etc... I am having a tough time finding all of them. I got the system freqencies but I don't understand how to get the talk groups. I now have a 2051. Any help would be great!

Click on the top bar where it says "Database". Click on the Oklahoma state on the map. Select your county (or click where it says "Display all trunked systems in Oklahoma"), and find the system you're trying to monitor. Most of them have many talkgroups so that you can know what you're listening to without too much work.

Does your scanner support alpha tags? If not, you'll have to settle for the decimal IDs and just remember who uses what.

If so, there should be a way to enter the TGID and associate it with a Alpha Tag somewhere around the same place you entered all the freqs for the trunked system.

Ok - I looked at your manual, and remember why I didn't get one of those - it doesn't support Alpha Tags

So.........
You're out of luck. You will have to just remember the TGIDs. You can program some in in "banks" and organize them like that, but there is not text you can put on that scanner. That didn't make a lot of sense with a 1,000 channel scanner, huh?

Your manual: http://rsk.imageg.net/graphics/uc/rsk/Support/ProductManuals/2000426_PM_EN.pdf

Are you sure your scanner is trunking the Shawnee system? Sometimes neighboring systems use some of the same channels. Some other you might check are Norman and the State Smartzone.

Check to see what freq the scanner stops on when there isn't activity. Make sure that is one of the freqs with a * or in red in the database (that denotes data channels for that system). Other than that, there could be many IDs that haven't been submitted to the database. If that's the case, figure out who it is (this is the fun part of scanning, I think), a channel description, and submit it to the database so everyone else can use it and know who it is also.

dajdog--

One of the great advantages for cities that have a trunked system is that they can create new talkgoups with just a few mouse clicks; no new hardware required. For us, that means keeping up with the systems is an ongoing challenge.

Also, we do not have a complete list of the Shawnee System talkgroups. As mam1081 says, please try to figure out what the new talkgroups are and report back to us so we can enter them into the data base.

I havn't identified all the ids. Just the ones that are Shawnee police/dispatch. Should I still submit those or wait until I have exact identification?

Go ahead and submit them if they aren't already in the database.

My only caveat is that you be certain of what you are submtting. I have found that if bad information gets into the database, it tends to remain there. I would rather be extra careful that the data is correct when it is entered than wind up with a database full of incorrect info.

Will make sure to fully understand all transmissions/TGID's before posting. Thanks for the abundance of info gathered by you all.
