Like I said before Great Job!. What I was wondering is if you could be able to do a "any station" and "any language" scan at say NOW... so you can see whats on the bands and scan through to see what you can catch. I know that maybe its a huge undertaking but I just wanted to throw my hat into the ring.

g1jaj: This is a very useful tool. Thanks for taking the time and putting forth the effort to develop it; I"m sure it wasn't easy. And another big thanks for posting it online for the benefit of all.

OK, so new toys to play with. If the site can work out where you are a red dot appears on the map where at your location. (If the dot is in the wrong place, visit hostip.info and tell it where you are as this is the database that's used to try and work out your location - it's not 100% accurate).

If the dot appears (and if it's in the right place!) if you mouseover the transmitter sites, it will tell you the bearing from you to the site and how far away it is in km. Also, a signal strength bar will appear. This is supposed to give an indication of the probability that you will be able to receive the transmission. It uses your location, the tx site location, the tx power and bearing, time of day and so on to try and work it out but it's what I guess you would call 'in beta testing'. It doesn't check the solar conditions so it is only a guide.

Have fun and thanks for all the nice words. Makes the effort worthwhile.

Richard

P.S. The request for 'all stations, all languages' would yield so many results that you wouldn't be able to see anything on the map at all. I'm going to see if I can do 'all stations, all languages, in one band (eg 48mb)' which might give a more reasonable results... I'll add that to the 'to do list' anyhow!

Thank you Richard for that site. I started using it in 2009 and the recent changes are great, especially not having to sift through +/- 10KHz, but it's nice to have the option.

It's funny, I was just looking on the site a few days ago wondering who was working on it to send a note of thanks. I just magically found the link to Aoki's site. I'll have to look around there too.

P.S. I use typically use Safari and the site has always looked/worked for me that I can recall.

Richard, you ought to give credit to yourself on the Web site. Last time I looked one couldn't tell who the guilty person was. Great job!

Richard (g1jaj),

Question regarding hovering over the red dot.
The red dot appears to be placed at my geographical location correctly. A visit to Hotslip, info correctly displays my service provider, location and IP address correctly as well. I recently changed to a Windows 7 computer using Internet Explorer and previously had a Windows Vista computer using Internet explorer as my web browser. On the Vista computer I had no problem with hovering over the red dot and displaying my location info, On the Windows 7 version, hovering over the red dot does nothing, neither does clicking on the dot do anything, Hovering or clicking on frerquencies don't display any info either, I use the same security levels and settings as I did on the Vista computer, Do you have any thoughts on why I might be experiencing this inability? Thanks in advance.

Just wanted to say thank you to Richard for the great site. I use it all the time. The grey line map is useful, also.

Thank you Richard!

Very good site. I have visited several times after seeing Brandon's post. I love the red dot location and being able to hover and see bearing and distance. I also like the signal strength reference. I've found the whole site very accurate. I really appreciate your efforts.

Hi Folks,

I write the songs, err I mean I write the code for short-wave.info. I am going to try and keep it more up to date, though there will inevitably be a small delay on the schedule changes whilst Aoki in Japan does his wonderful stuff in compiling them.

With respect to the problems you were having about selecting stations etc, I did a few mods/updates over Christmas and I think it may have addressed your problems. If not, please let me know and I'll try and fix it.

Any ideas for extra features also welcome!

Richard (G1JAJ)

Richard......Just wanted to add my own Kudos and Thanks for the website. It is simply the BEST and MOST ESSENTIAL shortwave radio site online. Period. It really is essential to the hobby. A million thanks......I've been DX'ing since the 60's and now with Passport being long gone, your site is my GO-TO reference in ANY form--print or web !!! You really deserve some support from any SWL groups or clubs......

Again...Thanks...
