I live in the seacoast area, according to google maps I'm 35 away miles as the crow flies, I live in an apartment that is on a hill above the treeline and have an unobstructed view for miles. I can hear the lakes region like they're next door.

I'm using a Pro-106 with Win500, and imported the Manchester data from the database here, is there anything that needs to be set for it to work? (other than setting a scan list) or is it just low power and I'm out of range?

I've never actually tried to monitor a trunked system so I may very well be screwing something up.

NHdave:

Reception of Manchester's EDACS system is notoriously challenging depending on location and distance. At 35 miles, it's highly unlikely you're going to hear them at all even with and outside antenna. I live about 15 miles away and have an outside antenna mounted at 35' and the reception is not that great IMO. If you want to see what it sounds like, my feed is located at:

Thanks, I'll have a listen. I found a thread from 2005 that was recently brought back to life that said pretty much the same thing. Guess I'm stuck with feeds.

If you are willing to Download a client software, there is a dedicated feed for Manchester Fire on ProScan. It has the display so you can see what channel is active. There is also less than one second delay on the traffic.

That's not to take away from Mike's feed. ProScan doesn't work on smartphones, and is easy to access from the web.

Don't feel too bad. I live on a hill and Manchester is about 20 miles north and I have to use an outside antenna to receive from there. As I have previously said, I can be in the center of Manchester and hear Nashua very clearly.

As I recall reading some time ago, Manch TRS reduced their transmitting power due to interference with the Worcester Mass TRS. Apparently both systems use 1 of the truck freq. When mobile and even with a Larson NMO 800mhz antenna I lose signal lock not too far away from the city. Even in the city I lose them if anywhere near a cell tower due to interference. I know someone from Derry who couldnt pick them from his home, So their range is very limited, an outside 800mhz zagi pointed right at their tower might help but there no guarentee.
