Does the 436 have the ability to display the active frequency - similar to how the SDS100 does it; located on the bottom right of its screen? Am I missing a setting?

It seems rather odd that I can't view the active frequency in a trunked/digital system.

Thankyou. Unfortunately, it only provides a toggle of 'Unit Display On' or Off. No freq' shown.

By itself it does not. If you run Proscan with the 436, it will show you on Proscans virtual display...

There really is no reason to see the freq. in a trunked system, much more useful to see the site.

Shoud'a bought a v8... er a SDS100 , it will show freq.

Thanks guys.

Unfortunately, I have the feature-lacking Australian version - UBCD436-PT and this does not have a 'Serial' feature, so ProScan is out of the question.

I'm actually tempted to buy a 436HP or SDS100.

The 436 will only show it (afaik ) with proscan and maybe butel and id tracker. I don't own a sds100 so I can't comment on that.

You would think it should have a Serial Port mode if it has GPS. It sounds like not a hardware limitation but rather firmware.
Curious if you can setup the serial port in the Menu -> Set Your Location -> Set Up GPS -> Set Serial Port?

Cheers!
Can confirm it has a GPS Port above the USB port, just like the HP model.

I'm too also inclined to think that it's a firmware limitation. In lieu of 'Serial' control, we have 'PC Programming Mode'. This mimics the function of Mass Storage on the HP version. Unfortunately, the PT version doesn't give you the option to run it as either Mass Storage or Serial when a USB cable is plugged in; it defaults to Mass Storage.

"Menu -> Set Your Location -> Set Up GPS -> Set Serial Port?" is there in the Menu. When in this menu, I get the option of 6 bps rates and an option for 'Off'.

On a side note - I purchased ProScan from you many many years ago, to use on my 396XT. Boy, do I miss using ProScan (I no longer have the 396XT, only this 436-PT). It was the best to use.
