I've been using Siren remotely via VPN and it's great, I agree though that audio should be available as a background process (like the "scanner apps" that stream from radio reference audio streams).

Now one feature I'd like to see is not necessarily a Siren feature but a scanning speed performance increase. When I watch the screen on my 536, it seems slow to me, and maybe I'm used to my old Pro-197, but the 536 seems a lot slower scanning.

Without the WiFi connection, there is no way for the phone to get the display info.

You must be connected via WiFi. In this case, you want to use ACCESS POINT mode since there would be no local network.

You would want the scanner in Access Point on the wifi settings for the scanner.

A few steps are needed:

1. Set the scanner for Access Point in the wifi settings. Determine the IP address used, something like 192.168.1.
2. On your iPhone Wifi Settings, you should see "BCD xxxx" which is the serial number for your scanner. Connect to that for your wifi.
3. Start the Siren App and press the Settings button then go to connection. Enter that 192xxx address and press Accept. (Sometimes you have to repeat this to get it to take).

I use it regularly.

It would be super if I didn't have to reboot my scanner once every 3-4 days to be able to reliably use Siren. If I don't, even though my BCD536HP has a static ip, it will not respond, until I reboot the scanner.

Yeah, same here. However, I have come up with a workaround. I connected the AC power adapter plug into an old X10 module that I had in my parts drawer. Now I can remotely reboot the scanner from my phone or computer if it hangs and I'm away from home:) I also connected it to a Belkin Wemo module and it worked as well, but it was a pain to get it configured. I have the X10 system controlling a bunch of other lights and appliances and they are all controlled by the HomeSeer program running on a spare laptop. I have the module connected to the scanner programmed to automatically reboot once per day. So far it has been working great.

The last Siren update for IOS was 11 May, 2015. It's almost been a year and no word from Uniden. I'm sure android users are even more upset. This whole thing has become a joke. I'm still waiting on the server that was promised 2 years ago so we don't have to use the VPN workaround.

V1 = main scanning functions, LAN only
V2 = addition of Analyze
V3 = addition of Full Menu capabilities for all functions
V4 = WAN capability
V5 = still a secret

Hey UPMan
It's been almost a year now sine you posted this info. The last app store update was on 11 May 2015 and too this day there is still no Android App version. It would be nice if your costumers had an update.

1 year since last Siren posting

It is officially one year since Uniden/Upman posted anything about Siren app development progress. No Android version yet.

Uniden doesn't care about their customers.

Come on Upman...prove me wrong. I double-dog dare you.

It sure would be nice if Uniden would finish the app it would great to be able to hold on a site or operate discovery features. I've seen kids design apps faster than this.

Thanks to Unidens incomplete Siren app I have now lost a full days worth of recording on a new P25 system I was monitoring. I hit the replay button on the app to hear the last few transmissions of my scanner at home and when the replay was done there was no way to resume scanning. All I have is Sig:(null) on the system line,

How about finishing up the app so it can work the way you said it would. Right now it's worthless beyond listening only.

What's funny is the lack of updates to this app. Updated: May 11, 2015, Version: 1.1.2. That is pretty pathetic.
