One Tulsa man was killed and another Tulsa man had his leg amputated after a cigarette boat ran over the top of the pontoon boat the two men were in Saturday night on Lake Skiatook.
The crash, which Oklahoma Highway Patrol Lake Patrol troopers were investigating, happened around 7:26 p.m. near Hominy Creek Bridge and Oklahoma 20, just west of Skiatook, said Trooper Kera Philippi.
When the cigarette boat, a type of boat that has a V-shaped hull and a high-powered engine often used for racing, ran over the pontoon boat, which had five people aboard, it killed Dean Gildersleeve, and amputated the leg of Tom Clayton, also of Tulsa, Philippi said. Ages of the men were not available.
Clayton was taken to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, where he was undergoing surgery Saturday night.
Troopers did not report that anyone else was injured in the crash, including the other people in the pontoon boat and the driver of the cigarette boat.
