hello i have the gre-500 scanner im trying to get the skywarn to work i have entered all my same codes,i believe all settings are correct but when i press func then wx to get to skywarn it shows up nothing enabled, any thoughts as to what i could be doing wrong thanks for any help on this could any one also tell me where i could find the frequencies for skywarn for the state of delaware thanks again

I found these 2 frequency's for Delaware, Salisbury= site name, Delmar=Transmitter name=162.475
Lewes=site name, Greenhill=transmitter=162.550, hope this helps

Pressing FUNC then WX scans objects stored in scan list #22. If no objects are assigned to scan list #22 it will give the error message of "nothing enabled". Scan list #22 is often used for things related to weather such as spotter frequencies.

The SAME codes only work when you place the scanner in weather standby mode by pressing WX then F2.

I hope this helps. There is a scan list #22 dedicated to weather objects (talkgroups and conventional frequencies) activated by pressing FUNC then WX and there is also a weather standby mode activated by pressing WX then F2.

Skywarn and SAME/FIPS are two completely different things, and have no direct relation to each other.

Are you trying to set the SAME code(s) for your area, so that your scanner alerts you to severe weather watches/warnings that the NWS sends over their 162 MHz all hazards/weather frequencies, or are you trying to be able to listen to local Ham radio operators who volunteer their time to particpate in the Skywarn storm spotter program?

As mentioned ScannerSK & KB7MIB stated above, these are two different things. The SAME codes are associated with NOAA weather radio. After programming your SAME code(s), you would need to press the "WX" button then (assuming your scanner locks onto a signal) press "F2" (below SAME on the display).

SKYWARN is a national program of trained spotters sponsored by the National Weather Service. Many SKYWARN members are amateur radio operators. You will need to program those freqs in the scanner. You did not say which county you're in, here's the RRDB list of SKYWARN repeaters. Delaware Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Once you hear on NOAA WX radio that SKYWARN has been activated, you may then want to press F+WX to monitor the spotters.
