Help with Contra Costa County

I have a Uniden BCD 996P2 Scanner. I uploaded all the local fire frequencies for Contra Costa County in California from Proscan to my scanner. They are not encrypted but they are Phase 1and 2. I can’t seem to receive any transmissions.
I am obviously missing something
I get transmissions from broadcastify on my phone. But nothing on my scanner.
Please help!!

it might help to move the radio around and less signal is usually better.

I would try putting the system into ID Search mode, rather than ID Scan. Are you getting anything at all? Next you could try forcing it to receive from different sites. The one closest to you may not provide the best signal. What are you using for antenna? As they say, garbage in, garbage out. If you could point a directional antenna to a single tower, you should be able to mitigate Simulcast Distortion.

I’m just using the antenna that came with the scanner. I uploaded those exact frequencies and I’m not receiving anything. On Saturday we actually had a fire a block away from my house with multiple engines and I wasn’t receiving any radio signals I had to use Broadcastify in order to hear what was going on. But I will try everything you suggested and see if that works thank you

i was going to say, try the input frequencies, but that does not work for phase 2 systems.
it is a good work around for phase 1 and simulcast problems.
but that system is a phase 2 and all talkgroups show as T (phase 2)

All sites (with the exception of Marsh Creek) contain simulcast cells. Even if the OP programs the simulcast closest to them they may still be within range of two or more cells on said simulcast. OP would be best advised to pick up a Uniden SDSxx0, Unication pager or SDR dongle(s) to mitigate simulcast distortion. Or otherwise follow the multipath mitigation suggestions given in the wiki article provided in post 2

I’m in Contra Costa County I just ordered an disconne D3000 antenna and mast to install outside of my house. I can receive CHP and Sheriff right now but I’m trying to receive local fire and Calfire and helicopters in ground to air and air to ground and the talk groups are programmed
