I have installed Skywave Linux on a Ventoy USB stick andI have also installed it onto a plain USB stick and both work fine on my main laptop. So I decide to try it on an old latop which I could keep in my radio shack. The old laptop is a Packard Bell EasyNote TS which only has BIOS and not EFI. However the ISO refuses to boot on the EasyNote laptop although other ISOs on the Ventoy stick do boot, Ubuntu 22.04 for example.

According to the Skywave Linux Notes and Bugfixes page "If you use your own grub or syslinux bootloader setup, be aware that for Skywave Linux 4, point the bootloader to "initrd" not "initrd.lz" and likewise, "vmlinuz" is simply "vmlinuz" (both within the /casper directory)". This seems to be the root of my problem as the screen reports a problem with finding initrd in /casper before rebooting. But I have no idea of how to go about fixing this issue. Any suggestions woult be gratefully received.

You may want to check if the old pac bell can boot from usb. It may very well be to old to boot from usb port. Does it have CD drive you can burn disk too? Give it a try from CD...

Is the USB stick a UEFI or BIOS boot?

The old pac bell can boot from USB, in fact I installed Ubuntu 22.04 onto it from a usb stick. Only the Skywave Linux ISO refuses to boot
