I download the TG's for the system in .csv format using the RR.com web service. I cut out everything but the descriptions and TG's.
Then I tune in the system briefly on Unitrunker which creates a TG ID file in .csv format.
I open the TG ID file in .xls, past in the ID + description form RR.com and fill in all of the default values from the top down on the sheet.
Then it is re-saved as a MS-DOS CSV file (Which Unitrunker wants) Rename it to the proper file name, in this case moto7202.gid and put it back in the Unitrunker folder and presto, I have labels for all of the ID's and just wait for the hit counters on the ID's to start rolling for the site I tune into. Since all sites end up with the same moto7202 name I re-save the GID file after some time to a unique descriptive name in .xls format for later investigations.
It's easy now that I have done it on dozens of systems as IO travel alot. Just looking at ID's + Hits is a little boring.
For fun, I attached last nights run of the SLC UCAN site. It is in .txt format. Download it, open it and copy the entire text blob. Paste it into a new .xls sheet.
After doing that, highlight the A column , goto "data" on the top tool bar, select "text to columns" make sure "Delimited" is selected, hit next and select "COMMA" as the delimiter...nothing else.hit NEXT, Hit FINISH and there ya go! Formatted data.
Now, you basically can delete every column except for address, label and hits. Now you can sort by Hits to see the most active TG's on that site during the time that data was collected.
Wasn't that fun??!!>
It's really useful to have Unitrunker for analyzing TRS traffic and finding new or just "visiting" TG's.
