• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

SLR 5100, disconnection from peers after 5 minutes.

Hello. I'm posting this after spending hours trying everything and nearly going crazy.
I'm trying to connect an SLR5100 master to three other SLR5100 peers.
On one side, I have a master and peer on a network segment, and on the other side, another network segment is connected via VPN to the other two peers. Both sides have an Edgerouter ER-X configured with Zerotier to establish the VPN connection. Everything works perfectly for about 5 minutes. The devices are listed in the RDAC without any problems until about 5 minutes later, when the two peers on the other side disappear. Only the peer next to the master remains listed. All devices continue to have connectivity (checked with ping from both sides).
As workarounds, I removed all firewall rules from the ER-X devices, disabled IPv6, increased the Conntrack UDP timeout, and used a different UDP port for each peer.
The two devices that disappeared only re-list in RDAC when I reset one of the ER-Xs. Five minutes pass, and they disappear again.
Nothing fixes it. When I check the traffic, the disconnected peers are still trying to send traffic to the master IP. Am I missing something?

It may not be applicable in this case since you're still able to ping the repeaters once they've disappeared, but it may be worth disabling STP/RSTP to rule that out. I've had similar behavior with multisite Zerotier bridges on Mikrotik hardware and more often than not it has been an RSTP config issue.

First off, there is no such thing as an SLR5100. Do you have SLR-5700s or SLR-1000s.

Second, what topology are you using, IP-Site Connect, Capacity Plus, Multi-Site Capacity Plus?

Third, if you run the RDAC tool, pointed at your "Master" what does it tell you?

Lastly, what's the round trip delay between the two sites? Maybe use MTR to analyze this.

  1. Maybe it's a model for Latin America.
  2. IP-Site Connect.
  3. This is what the RDAC shows me. IDs 2024 and 2025 always work, while IDs 2027 and 2026 are the problematic ones. In the photo, 2026 had already disappeared, and only 2027 remained on the list, but it no longer provided data (an RDAC error window appeared).
  4. I'll run those tracert tests and others in a few days.

I think there is no STP on Edgerouter ER-X

Sorry, SLR-5000, but not the 5100, although it's very possible that it's not a NA model that I am not aware of. Since the RDAC display is not in English.

Actually,

Your link and my link are different, and you have a 300Mhz option in the Specifications action that is not valid or shown on the Specifications in NA. All of which is irrelevant to this thread.

So again, I did not realize that they had a different version/model number outside the US.

Ok. And it was relevant to establish that a SLR5100 does actually exist.
