Frequency 859.2125 is one of the frequencies for the Tyler Simulcast site in Smith County.

That's part of the TxWARN P25 system.

There are, in fact, five sites that cover parts of Smith County:

Frequencies are listed with the sites. Talkgroups are listed below the Sites, grouped by Departments with TGIDs used by various jurisdictions.

I'm not sure where you are looking, but there is a large Department, on the TxWARN page, that has Smith County talkgroups, including the Sheriff's office.

What scanner are you trying to program? Depending on your location (and scanner), you might have problems receiving the Simulcast site. You might be better off using one of the other sites if one is closer, though you might not hear Tyler (city) radio traffic on anything other than the Simulcast.

God those aliases look awful, still under the 12 alpha character limit we used to have. I'm going to clean those up some.

thanks for the reply. I'm using sdrtrunk with 2 rtl-sdr dongles. I'm picking up lots of traffic. medical, city works. some says pd1 or pd2 . it's weird that the software is showing p25-1 but radio reference shows phase 2. I'm getting some encrypted traffic but I don't know where that's coming from. I only have the control number entered which I referenced earlier.

The system type, in RadioReference, is shown as P25 Phase II because the system is capable of that. Down in the Houston metro area, which is also part of this same system, many talkgroups are using Phase II. Since, at present, the agencies near you are not using Phase II, then the talkgroups are carried as Phase I. If any radio affiliated with a site is only capable of Phase I, then any transmissions will be handled as Phase I. Talkgroups that are always Phase I (for now, unless or until upgraded) are shown with a D in the Mode column for the talkgroup. If a T is listed, then that TGID is using Phase II.

Here in the DFW area, take a look at FWRRS:

Parts of this system, such as in Ellis County, Irving, Grand Prairie, & Arlington, are using Phase II, so their talkgroups are tagged with a T. But for Fort Worth, and much of the rest of Tarrant County, Phase I is in use, so those TGIDs are tagged as D (Phase I).

thanks for the reply, so I'm guessing here, DE is phase 1 encrypted?

Correct. The D indicates a Phase I TGID. A capital letter E indicates full-time encryption in use. However, if it was a lower case e, that would indicate encryption only part of the time.
