Ok guys, the county system SNACC is going P25. The new system Southern Nevada Area Communications Council (SNACC-Project 25) Trunking System, Las Vegas, Nevada - Scanner Frequencies is already in the rrdb as far as sites. The talkgroup conversion is simple. Take the old number from the old system ie 42224 and divide by 16. the result is a four digit new talkgroup id for the P25 system. Sorry for you guys with homepatrol and 536/436hp models as it may be a long time for the rrdb admins to convert the system and then eventually get to Uniden Sentinel updates.

Well this should prove interesting I suppose, guess at some point I'm going to have to acquire a P25 capable scanner after all. Oh well, time to do some math on those talkgroups. ;)

Seems like it's going fast, I have a wildcard setup on my scanner and it gives me a few new tgids almost everyday. I'd be guessing if I said by the end of the year?

I'd be happy to send a conversion p500 file to users with psr-500/600/ pro-197 or other applicaple models that use win 500. Not a complete file I chose not to monitor some boring tgids like Cat buses/ ccsd/ etc'. Iv'e got the FD/ PD/EMS and some extras not in the rrdb.

Not that anybody will directly need it but, I made a simple text file containing the SNACC P25 converted TGIDs (meaning divided by 16, in numerical ascending order). I don't own a handheld or mobile scanner at this time so I'm just using my trusty RTL stick(s) with OP25 since yesterday as I'm just getting back into this SDR hobby after being away for a while. The file is tab separated and has the entire current SNACC TGID list (352 TGIDs) since I don't feel like adding single TGIDs as I happen to notice they're in use one at a time. I just allow OP25 to "see" the entire list and ID things as required.

Anyway, the file is attached for anyone that might want to have a nice already converted list to work from instead of having to whip out the calculator or do some mental math whenever.

Having said that, here's what I've seen activity on so far just today in the past few hours:

1279 Pahrump FD 1
1281 Pahrump FD 2
1537 Emergency (LV Valley Water District)
1915 BCPD Patrol1
2203 NLVPD N Disp
2293 NLVPD S Disp
2563 CCF West
2565 CCF East
2571 CCF South
2631 CCF Tac 8
2765 Sunrise ER

I know some of them will not be of interest to people (like the LV Water District stuff and others) but activity is definitely picking up and I'm damned glad to finally be able to monitor things on P25 Phase I and II systems without having to fork over a wad of cash at the present time. ;)

The "hump" I had to get over with getting OP25 to work was somewhat tough and I was about to give up on it many times but I figured it's now or never. I gave up around 4AM or somewhere around there and then came back after a few hours of sleep and sorta-kinda had an "AHA!" moment where I scrapped everything I'd done in terms of the config files and started over doing them by hand (no copy/paste) and miraculously everything is and has been working since so I'm good.

I am using 2 usb sdr's and unitrunker to listen to it and works great, what software are you using to monitor it.

OP25 which runs on Linux and works remarkably well after you go through a small chunk of Hell just getting it set up and functional. ;)

Also allows me to monitor LVMPD now too with their P25 Phase II system without many hassles. I hope at some point the developers of DSD+ will be able to add P25 Phase II support to that program, they're probably working on it now since it's gaining more widespread use nowadays.
