That I would have to say is the biggest problem I have with the software.
Having to have multiple copies of the software installed just boggles my mind. I just fail to see where I would want different profiles saved, but the freqs/sites/etc to stay the same.
Lets say I was going on a trip. One would think one could create a new scan list and save it. Then when I got back, i could just reload my "home" scan list. I know it has been discussed many times. It would be a fantastic update if that was addressed.
There is no need for "multiple copies" of the software to be installed. In Sentinel, you'll see any Favorites list that you've created. But that does not mean that you always have to load
all of them to the scanner.
Create a "Home" profile. Then, in that profile, set the systems you use in your area to be downloaded to the scanner, setting whichever ones you want to also be monitored. the rest of them (that were set to download, but not monitor when written to the scanner) are on the scanner's memory card, but not being scanned unless you access 'Set Scan Selection' and set them to also be monitored. Any lists you created for trips might be in Sentinel, but you can set your profile so that they are not loaded to the scanner (set Download to
No to do that).
You could have one or more other Profiles set up for trips. On those profiles, set only the Favorites lists that you would need on the trip to be monitored, or at least downloaded. There again, any list on the scanner that you want to have available for use, but not always monitor, would be accessible Here again, any "local" lists, used in your home area, can be set to not download, so that they would not be written to the scanner.
When writing to the scanner, just select the 'erase lists on the scanner' option to delete any Favorites list on the scanner so that Favorites from the 'other profile' (Home or Trip) are not left on the scanner and being set to scan.
Some people go so far as to create separate memory cards for Home, and for one or more trips that hey take fairly often, then just switch the card. That is much easier to do on the 536HP series, as the memory card is accessible from the front panel. For the 436HP, a memory card swap involves removing the battery & then holding your mouth just right to change the card. (I don't care for the memory card holder in the 436. The one in the 536HP o Whistler's TRX series is much easier to access taking a lot of finesse.)
