As of Aug 16th, Battalion 3 has relocated to Eng. 4's quarters at 534 W. Division...Special Operations Battalion Chief 5-1-5 has relocated to Eng. 14's quarters at 1129 W. Chicago...Batt. 4 has relocated to Eng. 5's quarters at 324 S. Desplaines.
As of Aug. 21st, prior to "official CFD pronouncement" of DOA's, an EMS Field Chief will now be requested to respond to confirm what everyone already knows. This includes ALS fire companies. This does not include "field termination" in which the patient is worked until either they have regained spontaneous respiration (Acronym ROSC you might here) or the patient is asystole (flat line).
If a BLS First Responder responds and they have encountered a DOA (Assist a Civilian/Well-being check runs), they can no longer confirm asystole via their AED's. They must request an ALS response an attempt all resuscitative efforts until an ALS company/ambulance relieves them.
What does this mean for us the listeners....you will probably hear "can you send a Field Chief" a little more frequently.
