I am trying to put the 500Mhz System in my PRO-164 i put all the freqs in and have it programed to the motorolla setting and put the offset the spacing and the base i can not get it to work. Any help would be appericated.

Hey,

Im not sure exactly where you are as far as Zion Rd but I work at BMS in Hopewell and I live in North Brunswick. I can hear Montgomery fine until I get up Pennington/Rocky Hill Rd near BMS and then I can no longer hear montgomery. I am using a bcd396t with a stock antenna.

I live a little under a mile away from the county line i can recive the control channel with about a 85% signal on average. If i go threw the channels manually i can here transmitions on the freqs but when i am scanning it wont stop on any talk groups.

Ah Ha! Another 164 owner with problems (my best friends niece). Make sure you have the v1.04 firmware upgrade done to that unit, or it won't track ANY Motorola 500 MHz systems!

If you don't have the programming cable for the newest RS units, I only live over here in Branchburg...

You get the orange programming cable from RS (20-047), and you download the firmware upgrade from RS's website.

It will not affect your programming in any way...

If it's the county 500mhz system, you should be entering the base, offset and spacing, not size codes.

Re-read your scanner's manual on how to program a Motorola Type-II trunk system. Size codes are only for old Type-I systems, and you must put in all three base & offset tables in the order that you see them here in the database...
