Is there a source or app to monitor/listen to repeaters online when out and about without my radio or scanner? I am in Massachusetts.

I searched here, did some web searches, and even went to several repeater homepages, but could not find a way to listen “live”.

I do have 5-0 Radio Pro on my iPhone to listen to Police, Fire, etc. and only found one Massachusetts repeater on the Simple Radio app.

I went to the Broadcastify page for Massachusetts and did not see a listing for amateur radio under available services.

Not sure what other options I have?

I use the scanner app called scanner radio. My understanding is that all of the apps use feeds that are provided by volunteers on radio reference but I don't use broadcastify, I too am unable to unlock the ability to search everything I'm looking for. I am sure I just don't understand the system.

The search setup on police scanner works good for me. Here is a list of Massachusetts amateur radio available to stream.

The page previous to this is

The process starts with this page under browse.

I've been using this app for a long time, it has great widgets. For some reason my premium subscription to RR appears to give me a premium subscription to this app with no ads but I don't really know how it works other than.. it works.

All the apps and sources that allow you to listen to repeaters use feeds from volunteers, if no one is feeding them traffic you won't find it.

Seems you are looking for amateur repeaters.

The answer / APP will Vary, Some are fed to RR, Not Many as most hobbyists feed Public Safety

You might want to look at Echo Link as that has a large list of those for Massachusetts

Great source and I use EchoLink as my club is connected.. to actually use this to listen don't you need to sign in and be licensed as a ham?

Yes amateur repeaters.

I have RepeaterBook app but it is only a directory listing and I tried the website but cannot figure out how to connect and listen in on Echo Link. I’ll keep digging.

So I assume what volunteers are streaming on police scanner above, are not anything you are looking for in Massachusetts?

Getting EchoLink app is not difficult at all and as suggested could be what you're looking for, other than that, police scanner does list numerous amateur radio feeds from all over the country and the world. Good luck.

You would need the Echolink APP from your Phones APP Store.
They also have one for Computers as well

Thanks for this @trentbob and @ecps92. I downloaded the app and validated my FCC credentials.

I’m up and running on EchoLink now.

This is a great alternative and I will monitor some local and distant repeaters and explore EchoLink.

So many alternatives and facets in this fascinating hobby!
