The short version -

Anyone know the PL for 153.83 in Tulare County?

Anyone know why Kern County had 3 portables on 153.83 in 1978?

Does Orange County have 153.83 in their VHF radios?

--------------

The long version follows

153.83 is sorta the USA FD primary fireground (FG) channel - FCC only allowed 10 watts on the channel up to ? 1990 ? - it was listed inside the front cover of Police Call for many years

searching 2021_VHF | LA-TICP for 153.83 yields

PL 100.0 - Santa Barbara County Tac 12

PL 123.0 - MTO Tac 3 - Montecito FD in Santa Barbara County

PL 131.8 - Long Beach V6 Direct - in Los Angeles County

PL 146.2 - Murrieta FD Tac - mobiles TX PL 146.2

PL 151.4 - Los Angeles County V6 Direct

PL 167.9 - Ventura County Tac 9

PL 167.9 - San Bernardino County V15

[ apparently not used in San Diego County - maybe someone in Mexico uses it ]

-------------------

searching the FCC ULS yields more licenses

KB8273 - Orange County - 500 M (mobiles) X 100 W / 100 W ERP - 6/2002 "first use"

KC5112 - California, State of - 9000 M X 120/120 - 11/1982 - statewide area of ops

--------------

searching for 153.83 in Calif in RRDB yields -

153.83 in Tulare County is Ch 3 - no PL indicated

153.83 in Hemet is Tac 2 with PL 103.5

-----------------

Bonus point questions -

Any chance that Oxnard City, Burbank, Arcadia, Monterey Park, or Glendale presently use 153.83 as a Tac channel with a local PL?

Does Los Angeles County FD use 153.83 countywide or just in specific battalions?

IIRC 153.83 is available as a Statewide Tac with PL 0.0 - can anyone confirm that?

You can see that some of these licenses show 'first use' going back 40 and 50 years - so there is some history here.

Anyone know if LA County FD ever used 153.83 as a primary tac channel? Maybe in Station 51 days?

"Back in the day" the state of CA had established a standing portable repeater pair with 153.830 input and 154.265 output (the old White 2). I recall many FDs had this pre-programmed in their radios but it didn't seem to get used much. This is probably why most licenses tended to be limited to low power.

Ventura County Fire as Fire Communications Center (FCC) dispatches for all fire departments in the county and assigns one of 3 command freqs for each incident. Each command has an associated tac freq. Tac 9 goes with Cmd 8 & uses PL 167 .9. Therefore Oxnard FD uses PL 167.9 on Tac 9. Once the Oxnard license, KC5485, expires I would expect they would operate under county license.
