All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a brand new in box Motorola Sp50+ “plus” UHF 10 channel model coming in. I have the original old school Sp50 programming software released in 1995 ( Version R02.00.00 ). Can this version program the Sp50+ ? It looks just like a compact Sp50 but has a plus logo on it.

Ive seen a post like this years and years ago but nothing that says if the Sp50 RSS Version R02.00.00 will in fact program an Sp50+ ?

I have the OEM Motorola Sp50 programming cable and RIB and this software works great on all my standard size Sp50’s I have.

Follow up for this. I’ve seen this question post on both Batlabs and here multiple times in the past. I have a definitive answer. ( to those that still care and still actually use these ancient SP50+ radios that is ) - I just got a brand spanking new UHF SP50+ in the mail. I have the standard Motorola SP50 programming stand, along with RSS Version R02.00.00. I go to program the radio and get this error message -

So - disappointed, took the radio out of that programming stand and decided to try a home brew programming cable I bought off eBay ( black ground wire, red power wire ( that isnt used here ) and yellow programming wire. Sure enough, hold these two to the bottom most side contacts and it works ! Tricky part is hitting the “read radio” then trying to hold the two contacts to the metal tabs. But - I was successfully able to read and write to the SP50+ using this programming cable - Motorola programming cable GP300 GP350 P110 P1225 SP50 | eBay
