SPAM attacks on the Wiki

I just blocked 3 pages plus of Bot IDs - whoever has created the Bot ID page, please reset for the next list of Bots. Took me my whole lunch hour - I shudder what it would have taken on my dialup.
Whoever is maintaining that article, please delete the IDs and scan for any other Bot IDs that have happened since the last one was entered.

I would like to make a quick suggestion that could help out. I help run a small wiki on another site that isn't quite as bad as the one here, but we still get the same type of spam. One of the extensions we installed is Newuserlog and I've noticed that the spambots seem to create the account, and wait for a bit before they start making edits. I've taken to preemptive banning as soon as I see the accounts created and that seems to have really kept it under control.
