• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi All,

If possible can I get a little information please. Having a hard time getting this to sink into my pea brain.

Using an Spectra or Astro Spectra hi power trunk mount unit with the A3 head I will need the following from http://www.batlabs.com/arc/specsirn.pdf . In looking at the drawing it is listing :
(I do not want to hack and fight a new srecord for the radio want to leave it with original codeplugs srecords.)

DEK 1241D with a cable part number of HKN6145A and a switchbox HLN6819A with cable part number 6146A and it of course shows connector (B radio) and connector (A siren). Is this all 1 assembly cable or do I have to tap into the Spectra Siren cable HKN4363C with the hln6145a & 6146a cables. Jumping back and forth between forums looking at these options I am getting confused.

Radio #2 Spectra or Astro Spectra ( this radio will have a-4 to a7 head hi power trunk mount I am little confused with what cables I need for the DEK 1241D in this setup what cable would I need between the DEK and siren and radio please.

And I may just look for some a9 radios to eliminate the DEK as I am mainly wanting pa/ and air horn but at the moment I am using what's in the junk boxes.

If anyone would be so kind as to point me in the correct direction for what else I may need to purchase as far as cables go will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Tim

I just bought a hi power W3 VHF configured that way I am still trying to sort it out but apparently it does work that way and the code plug indicates it was active. . I have PMLN4959a cable with which is a y cable that goes to the siren module, radio and W3 (contact me if you need it I am not going to use it.) It also has something called a key extension cable that I think integrates the siren switches and ignition sense to the radio. I posted the question to see if anyone new what it was

BTW I purchased a seprerate low price PA amp to do what you are trying to do it is not as pretty but it is low cost

I stand corrected. Just checked the Siren/PA manual and sure enough, there it is.

siren/pa

What's the actual question? What are you trying to do?

I am trying to figure out which cables I need to connect the radio to the siren/pa and switch box and DEK.

I am wanting to use the pa function and the air horn function of the pa.

Thanks
Tim
