Before i take the antenna dive for my scanner, i like to know what you antenna gurus think of the Spider antenna model SP800BNC sold by Scannerworld.....comes with the connection and 50ft of coax with the mounting bracket for 42.00 plus shipping 8.75. I am in central california for whatever its worth......mild weather

I am also curious if anyone has an opinion. I am considering something like this for my attic.

Curiously enough the model number is similar...my catalog from scannerworld does not say "Procomm" and the one i was referring to does cost a lot less ...like about 20 something dollars....i dont think im gonna go out and spend money on something no one agrees on here....and if the ebay link pops up ill be checking that out too.

The only thing that's the same on your link, namrats, and the referenced thread from RocketMan1 is the model number of 'SP800' ... The images look like they're the same antenna. I wonder who really makes it / them, if they're the same or not. The one hesitation for me would be the generic "BNC cable included" since you don't knowwhat exact type cable you're getting. The only idea they give you is the pic of a BNC connector, and the cable in that pic isn't too thick, and low loss cable is 'typically' thicker than what they represent. Tough choice, eh?

I know this is an old thread, but recently bought one of these antennas off eBay. Don't waste your money. I had expected it to work better for my rural location than the telescoping antenna that came with my BCD996P2. But it is worse than my indoor antenna. It checks out continuity wise, and has me confused as how it could perform so poorly. I will see if I can sweep it with an antenna analyzer once I get my hands on one. I have one, but it is 20 miles away in storage... time to dig it out....

Never got one of those working well. Even with a antenna analyzer. Just a waste of time.
