FT08000 XSP - This is the one you want. It's probably cheaper than the FT08100 and you don't need the active return feature of the 8100 for use as a scanner splitter/amp. You only care about active return if you are using it for cable TV.

UG2802 - This has unity gain and provides no amplification, but just compensates for the splitter loss. This is actually a good choice if you don't want/need any extra amplification. If you want amplification don't buy this one.

I agree with thewenk you dont need a passive return, no outgoing signal.........If you have a long run of coax or other splitters get the amplified one.........Hoser
