Yes they do use a slew of gound sensors that detect people and some animals in the area.
171.475 (146.2) I believe this is BIA on the Spokane Wellpinit reservation used for fire ops.
There are about 6 - 7 repeaters that carry the fire weather forcast that comes out of the new
Joint comm center for USFS DNR BIA and the north Idaho offices of the Dept of Lands.
453.18125 Not sure what they are for other than a backhaul link to the Mtn top 155.3400 transciever.
453.300 (103.5) could be Spokane Co Facilities however I think its on the Kootenai county side.

AHA! That sheds light on something- Back in 2001 or 2002, I was in Spokane for something and heard SWAT ops on 460.3375, partially DES encrypted.

The guys on Ch-4 might have been narcs, or patrol guys talking about dealers, runners and houses, dunno.

I was not as lucky to hear activity because back then I think it was being
utilized a simplex and at some point in the last few years they have put
a repeater on it for facilities use.
As for the ch 4 traffic do you remember what the callsigns were that the
officers were using?
