Spotsylvania RIOS

What does the RIOS abbreviation mean? I see/hear it now on Spotsylvania P25 and it seems to be the same as the regular Interoperations TG.

I believe it stands for Radio Inter Operability System, If I recall it is different than the radio talk groups because the system is made up of more than just radios. Computer and VOIP phones can be part of it.

RIOS is a IP based link for interoperability. I beleive the state covered the original cost. Each ocunty does it different. Some wire it to a conventional resource then patch via console. Some hook a radio to it and use RF.

Yes spotsy hasn't used their RIOS console in a while. They were testing this week to fix issues with connections to STARS and DWR. Lots of incidents on lake anna recently.
