How many towers/transmitter sites does this system have? It has a huge reception area, (multiple counties) and I was wondering if they achieve this by multiple towers or just one very efficient one. The TRS system for the St. Louis area can't even cover the city limits. I was wondering how one system can cover such a wide area and onother not at all.

Thanks everyone,
Jeff

Jeff,

If you click on Primary next to site 001, a pop-up will provide a dialog with the call sign WPMH498. Click on it and expand the map to reveal 5 towers similar to these in this pic.

Thanks Frank & Tom

I looked into the system and found out some interesting stuff. There are 4 tower sites in Greene CO and at least 2 in outlying counties. I guess they are back ups but I don't think 800MHz will travel over 2 counties away, even on a good day.

One of the reasons I was looking into this system is because in St. Louis their system has only one tower site (and one backup) but only puts out 75watts. And it really isn't centrally located within the city. Greene counties system puts out 150watts minimum from 4 towers. Much better obviously.

I hope that if St. Louis upgrades their system someday that they at least up the power.

Thanks again guys.

PS Hey is that guy from St. Johns EMS / Lebanon area / Springfield area still here? I forgot your email and the Missouri WIKI has been severly cut back for some reason.

Yup, Jeff... I'm still here... and actually I have a map somewhere from CU showing where the tower sites are... There are actually 7, and all are located in Greene County (Some are close to the line, but all are in the county... Will see if I can find the map...

I will be visiting Greene Co./Springfield MO end of November. I see they have 2 sites listed(Primary and Springfield) do I need to put them both in my scanner? Also, I see the Springfield site does not have any control channels? Thanks
