Sprint and Motorola have created a solution that allows first responders to communicate within their existing first responder network as well as the Sprint iDEN-based network. Nextel Direct Connect customers can now use all of the push-to-talk features and connect to those using Project 25 land mobile radios. This is achieved though an IP gateway that was built by Motorola that manages and integrates services on the iDEN network and first responder networks.

Sytech Corp. of Alexandria, VA has had an IP gateway for a number of years. They
call it "RIOS". Sytech Corp has fielded these gateway systems to Federal, State and
local public safety agencies. They are currently working on a system for 28 locations
that will interconnect the 911 dispatch centers and allow sharing of radio
communications between the different locations.

Sounds like MotoBridge... with which you can actually patch anything to anything.

Update... I just read the press release. Funny, it IS MotoBridge.
