Hello,

Tried other Forums without any luck, and truly hate to be a pest, but am 86 now, and have
to admit that I miss many of the nuances these days.
Trying to get my SDS 200 going again with ProScan after many years due to medical issues,

Going to be a real battle, as I have forgotten most everything I once knew.
Can I ask this, please:

a. I downloaded the Driver for Proscan which apparently it needs.
Uniden_usbser.inf

Where do I put it ?
Anything else required to "activate" it ?

b. USB ports always cause me confusion.
Do I simply just pick any unused one in ProScan ? In the radio too ?

c. Should I now expect to be able to see the graphic of the SDS 200 screen on Proscan ?
How do I do it ?

d. Is the USB cable "only" required when using Sentinel ? Should/must it be removed for normal operation ?

e. Do I have to concern myself with the radio IP address ? What do I do with it re Proscan ?

What else is important to get ProScan communicating with the radio ?

Thanks.
Help is much appreciated, Very.

Hello,

A pretty basic question, but am confused over it.

ProScan asks you to designate a USB port in the program.

But I cannot find where in the radio to set up a "mate" for the link.
Shouldn't there be a Port in the radio to designate (also) ?

What am I missing, please ?

Thanks,
Bob

just plug the scanner into the computer, if you see the scanners display in proscan you are good to go there is no special driver required for proscan.

Wait on that. Do the steps I listed below.

Don't do anything here. Do the steps I listed below.
c. Should I now expect to be able to see the graphic of the SDS 200 screen on Proscan ?
Yes, once the communications has been established with the scanner.
d. Is the USB cable "only" required when using Sentinel ? Should/must it be removed for normal operation ?
Keep it connected for the communications from ProScan to the scanner for the display & logging

That's only if using the Ethernet method.

On the SDS200, you have a choice of using the Serial Port or the Ethernet for the data(display & logging)
I'm assuming you are using or want to use the serial port method. Is that correct?
Do this:
1) Ensure you have a USB cable connected from the front panel (Micro USB) port of the scanner connected to a USB port on the computer
2) Ensure the scanner is not in USB Mass Storage mode. If it shows "USB Mass Storage" on the display then power cycle the scanner and wait tell the scanner starts to work normally.
3) Go to the ProScan Comm. Port Settings and click Auto Detect. If the SDS200 shows up in the grid then click that row and you should be all set. If it doesn't show up then that needs to be resolved.
Advise if the SDS200 shows up or doesn't show up in the grid
