Is the SS using any particular freqs on the campaign trail? Mogul is in town as well as SS but I have not seen any action on the published freqs or on sdrsharp scanning the correct ranges.

I have everything I could find and also entered everything in as search for pl dcs or nac. Very quiet. I am about 8 miles line of sight but able to pull in signals from much further away. Not sure how much power they are using. Last week when the other one was here, I believe I stumbled onto a trunked system in either the 162/173 or 400/419 band right as they powered it down..

Last week I had left sdrsharp on scanning 162 thru 173 and 400 thru 419. I came home and when I got near the pc, I heard a mot control channel and when I sat down to look, it disappeared. Its really bugging me that I cant remember the freq it was. I am not that old. It was Hillary in town and I would think her SS would be larger than moguls due to her being an ex first lady..

Back in the olden day's, 1980's, the USSS used to set up actual "command posts" with strong repeater capabilities to keep track and to communicate with the approaching motorcades.
Now, with communications so more sophisticated, you'll only hear agents on their portable radios, and car radios, as they approach within a certain distance. So you'll have to be with in 1-2 miles to pick up anything. Channels Charlie and Mike are the ones I've heard during their visits here in the Tampa FL area. Half was clear, half was encrypted, depending on how each agent has their radio set.

Trump was in town earlier this week and I heard encrypted traffic on Charlie using NAC 001 immediately after his 757 landed, also heard a control channel on 408.025 which isn't usually there (didn't have anything to monitor it with unfortunately).
But, majority of traffic was actually on the state VIPER system utilizing state common talk groups Charlie 1, 2 and 3.

When does USSS typically set up portable repeaters?
I have heard them using repeaters at some Super Bowls, past visits by the Pope and political conventions. Multi-day events with multiple locations, like the G-7 Conferences, etc.
If there's a trunked system set up, it's more likely the White House Communications Agency (WHCA) than the Secret Service...

Last time potus was in Rancho mirage at his residence guest house the staff set up two portable repeaters, stuck the antennas on a fence about 10 feet apart.... the whips looked like vhf .
