STARS DVRS
1. FYI recently it was brought to my attention that one and possibly more STARS DVRS users now are using the 2015 revised 700 mhz. band plan frequencies available for state use only which Virginia uses for STARS DVRS users. The original FCC band plan frequency range was selected frequencies from 764.15625 through 765.96875 mhz. The 2015 revised 700 mhz. FCC band plan range was selected frequencies from 769.15625 through 770.96875 mhz.
2. The appropriate repeater input frequencies are 30 mhz. higher for both band’s frequency ranges. At .01250 frequency incremental spacing for the state use frequencies only results in 48 vehicle repeater (VR) frequencies each for both frequency ranges.
3. This may be the early stage of a process to migrate all STARS DVRS users eventually to the aforementioned 769 - 770 mhz. range. Meanwhile, these two different frequency range baselines will exist. It also is possible that these two different baselines will be maintained indefinitely although the original 48 DVRS 764 - 765 mhz. frequencies should be sufficient to support all STARS DVRS users. But there already has been a confirmed “hit” in the Richmond area for a STARS DVRS user in the revised 769 - 770 mhz. range.
4. In order to document STARS DVRS users, monitors statewide with the capability should search/scan these two frequency ranges preferably daily. A "hit" occurring on one of the 764 - 765 mhz. VR frequencies indicates that STARS DVRS user had not migrated. Conversely, if a hit was on one of the 769 -770 mhz. range VRs, that STARS DVRS user has migrated.
5. Current STARS DVRS users include but are not limited to: VSP/NOC/DCR/DOC/VDOT/DGIF/EPU/DJJ/DMV/ABC/DEM/TAC/VPA/TECHS
NOTE: Some DVRS VR users may be HT low power simplex comms only.
6. Confirmed:
VR-13 VSP Div 3 APMX = 764.65625 NAC 07B (Not migrated)
VR-26 VSP Div 5 CSPK = 765.16875 NAC 07B (Not migrated)
VR-31 VSP Div 1 RICH = 765.40625 NAC 07B (Not migrated)
VR-35 VSP Div 6 SALM = 765.45625 NAC 07B (Not migrated)
VR-16 VDOT District 4 RICH SSP = 769.69375 NAC 07B (Already migrated)
7. FYI I preferred using a file scan method for my 536 and 996XTs which was quick and easy to make. I created a new conventional file with two sub files, one for each frequency range. In MS EXCEL I created both DVRS NO. frequency ranges. My Butel scanner programming software supports copy and paste of an EXCEL file’s one or more data fields independently to my scanner.
8. If anyone wishes a “xls” copy of both EXCEL files please email me at my signature email address. Please do not PM me requesting the files. The two MS EXCEL files are:
OLD 700 DVRS FREQS. XLS
NEW 700 DVRS FREQS. XLS
These two files are also shown as jpg attachments because the RR text editor repositions all spaced table/chart data to the left margin making viewing the appropriate data relationships difficult and confusing.
9. Please post your confirmed VR number and NAC “hits” and known or best guess as to the DVRS user on this thread.
10. I didn’t see any DVRS section in the RR DB STARS section. It would seem to me appropriate to have the two separate DVRS ranges’ frequencies listed with user inputs available for updating where appropriate.
