Hi. I'm very new to Freescan; I just purchased a BCD996XT and read about Freescan here. I am running an older Lenovo T61 laptop with Windows XP and downloaded and installed Freescan 2.17 without any problems.

However, when staring Freescan, the following error message appears:

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

If I click continue, the program runs, but once I import a system from Radio Reference and go back to the main portion of the program and click on Primary, the following error occurs:

DataGridView Default Error Dialog
The following exception occurred in the DataGridView:
System.ArgumentException: DataGrudViewComboBoxCell value is not valid.
To replace this default dialog please handle the DataError event.

If you click on Ok often enough, the info tries to appear. I haven't done much past that at this time.

I hope I'm not violating some protocol by making this entry this lengthy; please let me know if you know of a way to correct this error.

Thanks!

It's not a Freescan problem. Looks like XP. Do you have another PC?

Thanks

Mark: I had the same thought, and before I posted my inquiry, I did indeed install Freescan on another PC; it worked perfectly. The other computer was running Windows 7, though. I was just looking to see if anyone else had run into the error messages I saw.

Ronaldski: Yep; I installed the net 4.0, but got those error messages I mentioned.

I finally gave up and upgraded the laptop to Windows 7 (it was something I had contemplated doing, anyway), installed Freescan and now it works perfectly.

Now I can go about learning all the features that Freescan has to offer, in addition to learning all the functions of the scanner, as well.

Thank you both for your suggestions; they are appreciated.
