If they plow under contract for the NJDOT, they would be on the state radio networks - most likely the 700MHz side using the 'Seasonal Contractors' TG's found in the database.

I was going to say the same - It's going to be a toss-up as to which system they are actually on, but the actual state trucks are on the 'Crew xx Area' talkgroups.

Buckbull, I truly understand your fusteration. The DB really lacks specific and imperative info for the particular talkgroups. Even the wiki doesn't give information regarding the exact State Routes each talkgroup covers. Crew numbers are absolutely useless in the DB. Should be replaced with actual location information. That way when you update your scanner's programming, it will display as such on the scanner.

For the most part, the database lists the talkgroups almost exactly how they are listed on the issued system radios. And the Crew numbers are very helpful to me so I'm not sure how they don't help you out. When I program my scanner, I have my own way of programming the alpha tag into the scanner for easy memory. There isn't a one size fits all solution, since everyone programs their scanner in the way they remember best. I'm good with Zones and numbers, whereas others prefer long descriptive alpha tags. The way that works best for you is what you should choose to program your scanner with. That's where the Database and Wiki work hand-in-hand with each other.

How the heck is a crew number helpful? It doesn't give any information regarding which area they operate in.

Exactly! Crew numbers tell us nothing!! This is obvious because earlier when I asked which TG covered Union County for DOT, no one seemed to know. I ended up finding it myself and submitted it to the DB to help out others in the future.
