Bon Matain, mes ami's! LOL!

Well, it's more like "night" to me, since I've been "up" since 2 am. :-(

Say, I'm not the brightest crayon in the box, but I was thinking we should have some sort of way of communicating about agencies we hear "active" and also letting the rest of us know when an agency "abandons" a frequency.

There are a LOT of vhf low-band stations that have left 39.5 and no longer operate there. For instance, the Rapides Parish Sheriff's office USED to have base stations in 5 separate locations: Alex, Boyce, Tioga, Glenmora, Le Compte, Cheneyville and a less powerful base in Alex. (KNGX-399 thru KNGX-405) and a parish-wide mobile system (KB-?????). Now they have just the KNGX-399 station, so I can only figure it's all under one license now, yet the others still show "active" in the FCC database. Confusing? YES!

I do know that the Caddo Sheriff, Bossier Sheriff and Bossier Police Jury have sold their gear and operate on 800 mhz trunked. The Bossier SO also uses APCO-25 for it's digital communications for "drug bust". The regular traffic is still analog, but very uninteresting, so I've deleted them from my scanners, LOL!

Does anyone know how to set up a Yahoo Group and restrict it to members only? This way, we can somewhat exclude those who do NOT "need to know"...whackers and terrorist (hopefully).

We can all still contribute to RR's database, of course, but by reporting the agencies that are no longer using a frequency, it saves a 'Channel' that could be programmed for something else. ;-)

Mom-in-Law is still going through some 'changes' and we are hopeful of a good outcome. "Thanks" for those prayers and good wishes, we appreciate every one of you.

GOD BLESS,
Have a GREAT "Thanksgiving",
Respectfully,
73's,

"Twisted Pair", LOL!

I'll give you a shout back on the cell 'phone, after I get the wife back over to the Horsepital, LOL! Just depends on what ELSE she has to do BEFORE we get there. I'll call before 5 pm though.

Looks like we're gonna get some rain (Yea!!!!). Doesn't look like any bad weather coming though, thank goodness.

Talk to you soon, hand.

Cool, Guys!

"Thanks",

I'll be dropping you a line to join. The more information we share, the better off we ALL are. I know a LOT
of state and local agencies are going to be going digital and maybe "encrypted"... :-( due to "security". It's sad to think that the World has changed to a point where no one is safe. These radial extremist have everyone scared to think that they are listening to all Part 90 - Public Safety radio traffic to avoid being detected or avoid capture doing their "dirty deeds". :-(

I've been a short-wave listener and a Ham a long time and while I enjoy my hobbies, I still like to hear "fire" or "ems" calls from distant agencies, kind of like Part 90 DXing, LOL! Some would even "QSL" you, if you made up a card, sent a log of what was heard, time, and a SASE. Nowadays, they get skittish you were even listening to the ems call that went out at West 4th St, and Grand Ave. for a "Major 52" (wreck with injuries).

As y'all know, my interest is monitoring agencies during bad wx...hurricane's, tornado's, and disasters (chemical spills, 18 wheeler wrecks, , explosions, train wrecks or business/woods fires.) I'm wanting to eliminate those frequencies that (for sure) have been "abandoned" in my spreadsheet/database and removed from my scanners. BTW, last night, at the ARCoS 2 meter Christmas/Eatin' Meetin' Party, I met a gentleman who has offered to help me in my quest to find a suitable database to input all that I have been able to download (active or not) from the F.C.C. database website. :) Once I can get with him and set this up, I'll "share" (Whackers need not apply, LOL!) I'm a little skittish about putting the info on the Web for various reasons.

Has ANYONE heard when Northwest Louisiana is getting an active LATIE site? I don't have a 700 mhz scanner YET, but hopefully I will and I'd still like to keep up locally.

Hurricane season for this year is over, thank goodness. However, we still have had tornado's this time of year. Yesterday was the 30th Anniversary of a tornado that ripped through Bossier City, killing two young girls.

Breaking NEWS!: The Amateur Radio Club of Shreveport (ARCOS)'s 146.670 (-600kcs) repeater has a new Club call. We are now, N5SHV. The local Skywarn Group's call on the repeater, is K5SHV and the D-Star digapeter (145.01?) is W5SHV, LOL!

Think I'll go back to bed for awhile. It's freezing and the temps are gonna struggle to get to 50 degrees today. Brrrrrrrr!
